I bought a Archos 101 16gb today in power city for €199.99. Nice little tablet if your not too fussy. I had a slight problem charging it but working perfectly now.

That is the online price so quote it in store to get it at that price.:D

Was it the standard 101 or the 101-G9?

Hey hgm, I'm thinking of buying one too...

Can you use Youtube on it?
What app store can you use on it?

If buying an Archos, I'd highly recommend buying the G9 version. Its a newer model with dual core. Archos have also said that the the G9 devices will be updated to Android 4, aka Ice Cream Sandwich.

Its a decent mid range device in both 7" and 10", and most likely superior to many of the cheaper Chinese tablets floating around.

It also has a good following eg XDA Developers, so future updates and hacking of the device is possible if you're into that aspect.

Might even be tempted by the 7 incher myself ;) Its €234.95 in Powercity

Hi sorry only seeing this now.Its the g9 version. You can use youtube no bother. It had the android market so you can download 1000's of apps. Have to say no problems so far. Check the prices onl ine before going so you can get them for that price. Also they had the 8gb Archos out on display for €235!! Ask for the 16gb one it's in the glass cabinet and quote the on line price of €199.99. ;)

Lots of sites are saying that flash support (and the android market) can be very easily added to the Archos 101 internet tablet by installing a piece of software called AppsLib: http://appslib.com/

Just for anyone, out of interest, Xtra-Vision have:

    ARCHOS 10" G9 8GB ANDROID 3.2 TABLET € 289.95

    €259.95 or thereabouts.

There's nothing great about the prices, both of them, but the Xtra-Vision price is *cough* closer to the normal retail pricing, for that stock..

As far as I know it is NOT the G9 for €259 in xtravision but the original. At least that is what their website says.

It is the G9, as far as I can tell, that shop only had the G9.. the hand written price also mentioned the model being the G9. All the stock was in the glass pillar too. Shrink wrapped. Honeycomb tablets.

I was eyeing up the smaller G9 model for a good while, but was gutted by the 'screen ring' problem that's being reported on YouTube.

Are you sure it wasn't the Blackberry Playbook which is on their site for 199 euro? They seem to have only a few tablets on sale and an Archos does not appear to be one of them.

No, it was definitely Archos, they may even have had a 32gb but not sure of the price

Archos 101 comes with applib installed, but it's fairly limited. Actual android market easily added, my 14-y-o daughter did it St. Stephens day....

Nice piece of kit for what she wants, good battery life, ok screen (€199 in Tesco before Chrisrmas - non-G9).
Not a laptop replacement, I'm now convinced that ipads etc. are totally over-priced, and a device like this plus a decent laptop is all one needs..... ;)

    For anyone that's interested - I've a G8 16GB that I bought on Adverts and it's fine, but was a little slow / laggy

I have since installed UrukDroid on it and uit's a very different machine - runs great now along with ADW Launcher EX

If you don't want the custom Uruk firmware then make sure to go to power options and set it to overdrive as otherwise the CPU only runs at 800Mhz instead of 1GHz (boosts battery performance at lower rate, but worse performance)

If you want to install android market, go to AppsLib and install ArcTools. This will install andoroid market on the tablet.
