    Most pointless car award perhaps?

For folks with cash who reckon the 5 is too common and the 7 is too big or whatever it might appeal, doesn't look too bad me thinks.

Competition for the A7 but hell yeah pointless..

Cls/a7 competitors. Looks nicer than both imo.

At least the A7 is a hatch so offers something different, but this is up there with the Merc CLS too.

Between BMW's excellent marketing and badge snobbery they could stick a BMW badge on the front of a Lada and people would still buy it so I'm sure this will do well!

We already have one of those:

I'm far from a fan of current BMW designs, it even took me years to get my head around the E39 when it was launched 15 years ago - way too modern compared to proper BMWs like the E34 and the E38 :D

Yet, this car is probably the most elegant BMW have launched in a decade. Yes it is me too. Yes, the CLS was there first. I liked the CLS for about a year but it aged quickly imho. And the A7 was pretty much like most Audis from the past few decades - meh.

Likewise! Although I currently have 2 E39's, I couldn't see the big deal back then but love them now. Also, the E46 I actually HATED when it came out, but in the last year or so, I am really liking it!

the e38, e39, e46 and e31 are the last decent beamers in my book, never liked the more modern stuff especially the 1 series

If BMW keep this up I'll have to change my username

    LOL
Ah in fairness, the E30 is a lovely design too!
Ok, yeah, the modern ones don't grab me, but maybe they will, in a few years time!

You came on board(s.ie) in '08 - years and years after the bangle era started ;)

But their designs have gotten worse since then! Plus I couldn't see beyond my E28 and E30!

The E60 in m-tec kit is ok and I like the E90 but hate hate hate the 1 series, any of the X's, F01 seven series, 5 series GT and not too gone on the front of the new three series so yeah its the current crop I'm not feeling the love for....plus this 6 series four door is pointless. But it'll probably sell.

    Haters be hating.

That 4 door 6er and the X6 are things of beauty, sculpted by artists who were inspired by God.
Cant wait till they start showing up in the bangernomics thread.

The E39 M sport and the pre facelift E46 are works of art, fact.

The E92 was hard to take when it first came out.. it seems to be growing on me now though

That thing is tasty beyond words.

Yeah but 90% of the ones sold in Ireland won't look anything like that!

They'll have the emblem on the steering wheel though, that's all that matters :pac:

The E46 saloon is ugly as hell.

Saw this a few weeks back, exquisite looking I have to say.

Great to see some B&O audio now too.

Totally disagree. This is a smart looking saloon, and it's not even in M-Sport format.

hate hate hate the 1 series

Even the 135i or M coupé?

    2011-bmw-1-series-m-coupe.jpg

I would own that over an ur-m3 any day

    *runs and hides*

What the hell is with everyone saying it is a pointless car?
The X6 may not be good off road but it is excellent on road, and it sells very well (not so much in Ireland).

This car is probably a Direct rival to the CLS or A5 Saloon/A7 Saloon. It looks nice. All BMW cars sell well in all markets. Id personally pick this over an 5 series.

If they do an M version it will probably sell more than an M5.

People do realise that the original 6 series Concept Car, titled the "BMW GranCoupe" was a 4 door ?

    C_3_Media_1040374_immagine_newsdet.jpg

This car is stunning and will destroy the Merc and Audi competition.

Can everyone who loves how old BMW's looked but cannot stand the modern BMW's please explain why this car is soooo very different to the one they supposedly adore below it ? One is ( to my mind ) a decent modern interpretation of the other is it not ? I congratulate BMW on having such strong lineage - and to be fair to them they are pretty much all good to go and great to drive ( bar some exceptions eg the Z3 )

    I like it too..
Bmw actually have very good styling. I dislike their fussy modern dashboards though, divert the drivers attention from the road to the dash not like the e34 which had the perfect cockpit. I wouldnt buy one because of that.
Mercedes on the other hand have nice dashboards but their exterior styling has gone to hell, look at todays SL their top end convertible , its worse looking than a 2003 one!

Best looking BMW in a long time. Far better that an A7 to my eye. I want one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Donegal09

it looks class :) ! Alot nicer than the current 6 series cars on offer.. and i notice not many people like the 1 series? I'll admit that the hatchback one series arent exactly pretty, especially the new ones ! but the coupes are stunning little cars, and the 123d sounds like an epic drive, 2l twin turbo diesel, 200hp from a 2 door rwd :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,535 ✭✭✭btkm8unsl0w5r4

The Merc CLS sold in suppressing numbers, it turns out people spending their golden handshake want a coupe for the golf carpark but also want to kart the grandkids around. There are loads of CLS's and A7 around, and given these are seriously expensive cars thats quite a success.

I really don't see this as pointless, its a me too car going into the CLS segment. IMHO its stunning but like all BMW it will be alloy wheel dependent.

I would give my wife's right leg (stops 'er driving it!) for a 1M. And my E30 looks very similar to the one above. Its the hatchback version of the one series I detest.
