    Call me a skeptic:confused: But all this free anti-virus stuff, how do the generate revenue? There is nothing for nothing in this world, or maybe i have misjudged mankind:eek:

    i would have a similar level of healthy skepticism but in this instance i'll throw another vote behind MSE. I've used it on all my machines for some time now, it's spot on

    I would guess from advertising and bundled software.
    With Malwarebytes they have a paid for version too that offers extra features.

    Many of the free anti-virus vendors offer a pro/paid for version with enhanced features and customer support.

    They normally make $$$ selling their AV database and a PRO/Corporate Version.

    The Corp version of Microsoft Security Essentials is called Forefront and cost a huge amount in both hardware and licencing costs.

    Malware Bytes makes $$$ from ads on their website and selling a Pro version with "real-time" blocking.
