I still have a scar on my elbow from a hot shell casing going down the sleve of my shirt while firing one of those yokes on Bere Island 20 years ago.

Yep, but to me they look odd with a much straighter magazine.
I believe you can swap out the barrel and replace the bolt to make it 308.
Maybe I'll do that when I get to the bottom of the 303 pile.
    heres one:

The Irish army never had their Brens rechambered for 7.62 the Brits on the other hand did.

They were ovely to fire.in .303.
Plesant recoil, quite accurate and selective fire was years ahead of it's time.

I could never understand why they were designed for a 30 mag as on full auto they would be empty in a jiffy.

First machine gun I ever fired was one.

I hear recently the last of them were all fired off when the closed Clonmel and found ammo that was donkies.
I wonder will they go to the stares like the FN rifle did.

Some craic bunny bashing with one of those

Well most machineguns are designed for shooting in burst, either you have 30 round magazine or 200 round belt.
If you use the full auto it will be gone in no time, and probably not hit anything either:eek:

So my deposit is paid, I've got extra magazines and a few other bits and pieces (tools, slings, extra spares etc)
The gun (have a hard time calling this a rifle) should be ready by mid February.
I've already reloaded 1300 .303 rounds, got 5K more to go!

One thing I heard is that DSA arms sells 308 barrels and extractors.
With these and the "correct" magazine (a ZB39) you can get the rifle to reliable fire between 10-12 rounds from the magazine (no issue to me in California where I have to block the mags to 10 rounds anyway).

I have not seen the ZB39 magazines anywhere, let me know if you see them.

I cant wait to receive this! My first name is Brendan. I think I'll stencil "Bren's BREN" on the side of the transit case.

The Fn rifle has been converted into a sniper weapon recently they put a schmidt and bender sight and a few other things on it as an infantry support weapon and the bren guns are locked away some were, seen one a few years ago made in 1946 and still in 1st day grease never fired.
