Music files on 3DS - Help with MP3 ?

    Hey guys,

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've looked on the Nintendo forum and everything and still can't figure it out.

I cannot get my 3DS to read my music no matter what I do. When I drag the music to the SD card, the songs appear in that folder on my laptop. But when I take the card out and put it in my DS there is no music.

Having googled everywhere the only info people seem to give is to make sure the music is converted to MP3. I'm not 100% sure how to do this or if it is already done. When I click on a song and go into properties is has (.wma) beside it? Does this mean it is the wrong format?

Also, online it says that the SD card should have two folders, one saying Nintendo DS and one that says DCIM. The DCIM folder does not appear on my laptop. Is that a problem?

Sorry if this is dumb, I don't really understand it at all. Any help is appreciated!!

It's in the WMA format and will need to be converted to MP3.
I'm guessing you probably use Windows Media Player and not iTunes. The better option quality wise would be to change your settings to rip directly from CD to MP3.
iTunes would be a simple right click and "create MP3 version" to solve this.
I don't have much experience with Windows Media Player but maybe this guide will be of some use to you:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_4853188_mp-using-windows-media-player.html

Or there's online convertors like: http://media.io/ or free downloads like http://www.wma-to-mp3.org/wma-to-mp3-converter.html

    :)

Regarding the DCIM folder. It only appears if you've taken any photos or videos with your 3DS, if you haven't, it's not needed.

For my Music i personally have a folder named "Music" then folders for each Artist, and then each album. Probaly the best way to organise your music on the system.
