    Hi all,

Hope everyone had a good xmas. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a road bike helmet fox max €100.

    Thanks in advance, Dave.

    Hi Dave,

I have always liked Giro helmets, this one looks quite nice just €5 over your budget:

Is it for road or MTB?

    Thanks for the recommendation.

Really depends on your head shape! I can't get Giros to fit right at all but Bell helmets work really well! Like shoes you really need to try them on!

    Cheers

Have used Bell and Giro for a long time and found them good. Went with a Specialised helmet recently and absolutely love it( especially with the vent across the front . With Helmets , it's definitely a case of trying them on ,as different helmets suit can different shaped heads better.....

    Thanks Pablo,

I did not think of specialized but will try them out. Any recommendations on any shops that stock all them?

    Cheers again,
    Dave

Have no experience of them but cyclestore have the Specialized S-Works Prevail team helmets at 45% off, work out at €105. Have lots of the team ones, Saxo-Bank one is quite nice

My next helmet (when I have the money) will probably be the Scott Vanish-R. Medium weighs 210g, looks good with plenty of vents and costs about £99.

Cycling Plus will have a review of it next month or so.

This gets a rave review and well under your budget

    Thanks again,

I will have a few to test out. Anyone know which retailer has the best stock variety to save me going between them?

    Cheers

I also need to change my helmet. With a head that's a bit on the large size, I need to buy a helmet that fits better. Can anyone recommend a guide on measuring your head for a helmet. If buying off the web, without fitting I woule need to get the size right,

    Thanks,

    T.

The Nexion is the most comfortable helmet I've ever tried on.
Wheelworx stock them or save yourself a few quid and have a look at the one for sale above.

Looks like a good deal from planetx. I'm poping into cycle super store now will see if they have any deals on.

Cycle superstore had these reduced to around 140 a few weeks ago IIRC. I tried the large on and it fitted my particularly large skull but most of the availability was in the Livestrong edition which won't appeal to all

Went to CSS yesterday, sadly my head doesn't come in a Giro size. The bell volt fitted like a glove but they only had grey, doesn't match any of my gear (sad that this much thought doesn't go into my clothing shopping).

Anyone any other thoughts on something similar to Bell.

If you have "Bell" head (I do too!) nothing else fits nearly as well! As a matter of interest, how much was the Volt in CSS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 364 ✭✭macken04

With a sad, I don't have a Giro head i got them to €150 down from €175, but the the stock was very limited. I honestly thinking the sweep is a better deal as its lighter and cheaper. I don't understand the fundamental difference between the two, beside the extra vents.

Gary there said if i ring him on Monday he will put the color and size I want on the order for me, which is quite sound.

I have a couple of Sweeps (dirty, smelly one for the MTB and nice shiny one for the road!) and they're great! Just fancy a Volt in the Jimbo colours which would be great with our club kit!
