a new tyre

I have a Fiesta Zetec 2005 and it has those low profile tyres with alloy rims.
They are really unsuitable for these roads as there are so many potholes.
Over the years the dents have built up and ,really speaking, they should be replaced or repaired at a garage with the correct tools .

So I am wondering do I have an option of fitting an inner tube instead ?
Or what about buying an extra spare tyre (with the rim I mean) ?

I think that the alloy rims are pretty expensive if bought new .

oh and by the way , separately, has anyone any advice on how to free the back seat as the catch seems to have broken inside?

All them 16 inch fiesta wheels are buckled cause of the crap roads here. A tube won't solve it. One person got pissed off so they put the normal steel wheel on, they don't get buckled and the ride is nicer. As for the seat try push it towards the back while pressing the button down on it. Will the button even press in or does it feel as if its not attached to anything?

Do those normal steel wheels cost much (new)?

No I am pretty sure that the mechanism has gone inside.
When I press down on the *button" on the top of the seat it feels like it is not making contact and is very loose. (I have tried rocking the seat back and forward to no effect)

There seems to be an unscrewable panel (about 5 inches square) to the right hand side of the back of the seat which looks like it could be there for the purpose of inspection.

But I have the feeling it might be a job that may require a special tool.
I have tried poking inside the mechanism (without having removed the panel) to see if it was just caught temporarily .

I have thought of completely removing the seat to get a better look but I don't think that would help (even then it is still held in place by the catch)

You'd get a set of 14" steel wheels for a fiesta easily in a breakers yard. The 16" fiesta alloys don't hold up well when driven into potholes etc.

    thanks
do they have to be 14"?
Is that because the normal steel wheels are bigger that the alloys?

14" is the standard size for fiesta steel wheels.

Can you try use a flat head screwdriver from the boot or is it assessable? try remove that panel.

yes that panel does seem easily removable. It is a fair distance from the catch though (about a foot to the right ) so I am not sure if it will allow me easier access.
But I will take it off and have a look inside...
