    Bit of a write-up here: http://www.crimetimepreview.com/2011/08/endeavour-morse-prequel-coming-to-itv.html

I will give it a go - if only because I'v all the DVD's of the TV series (and Lewis).

Marking the 25th anniversary of the very first episode of Inspector Morse, Shaun Evans steps in to John Thaw’s shoes to play the younger version of Colin Dexter’s iconic character.
Set in 1965, the story follows the hunt for a missing schoolgirl which draws Endeavour Morse back to the place which will ultimately shape and define his destiny – Oxford.
Deep in a full-blown murder investigation and led by Detective Inspector Fred Thursday, Endeavour finds himself side-lined, discredited and at a dead end.
Will he risk it all in the hunt for a truth that could haunt him for the rest of his days?

Box set is great for rainy Sunday afternoons..just saw the end of Remorseful day this evening on itv so it's getting me in the mood for next week...never really followed Lewis for some reason...maybe it was because he always drove Vauxhall cars instead of old jags..:D

The jag used in the original series was apparently a serious pain to drive/use.

Yes...think there was more than one....and John Thaw was not a real ale fan either.....

Just as a reminder....this is on this evening...It's a once off episode and will only go to series status if the viewing figures and critics are both positive...write up in the suitably apt, Oxford Times below...:D

No idea Pinky....they haven't shown Morse in the past as far as a I know...RTE 2 might be a better bet later in the year...ITV 2,3,4 may well show it also...if it were BBC, you might be able to rely on BBC3 or 4 repeating it but not sure how ITV works

Should it have been called Inspector Thursday?;)

Think if it's to become a series he needs to get those Seargent Exams....not sure I've totally warmed to it ...appreciate it's a first of a potential new series....it was all a little "staged".... too much "depth" as a Detective constable starting off...he's also a but too thin and a bit young looking...can't help but think he'll need strong characters to support him in future episodes.....a bit disappointed but not totally unexpected...Thaw as Morse is a hard act to follow...

It was better than I expected it to be. I find Lewis to be a bit anaemic and this was a bit more like the Morse of old. The theme tune at the end helps of course.
The only thing I'd chaff about is that there's no way that you'd believe the younger Morse would end up looking like the older one but it's a bit churlish to complain about that.

I liked the way they dropped in all the references to the original titles of the Morse series mentioning Jericho, Wolvercote, the first bus to Woodstock and no doubt many more that I missed. Hopefully they will make more of these.
