I'm thinking about buying a Trafic or a Vivaro or some similar vehicle. I won't be using it for commercial purposed. I'll just be using it as a regular van, well actually converting the back into a surf van kinda thing.

What is the situation with tax and insurance? Do I have to do it privately or will it still be a commercial vehicle?

Commercial tax for commercial use by businesses.

    Private tax for private use.

Even if using a van privately it will still come under commercial insurance, but they will still have use for social/domestic/pleasure covered too.

For tax, just go to the tax office when its due and say you want to tax it privately, they will charge you the private rate(based on engine cc regardless of year) and take your log book which you'll get back in a week or so with the taxation class changed.

On another note.....do some research before you buy a trafic/vivaro/primastar...insurance and tax could well be your smallest expence:eek:
