I'm wondering if someone could please advise on how to diagnose a knocking from the rear passenger side of a Renault Clio, 1997 model.

I've already changed both struts/shocks, but the noise is still there. Same side.

    Thanks.

    :-)

Most likely rear bushes I'd imagine.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

It's more of a banging metal-on-metal sound than a knock, having taken the car out again today. Sounds like a worn shock, but the rear shocks have been renewed twice. First time I got a cheap set and thought one was dodgy so replaced both rear shocks again with more expensive ones.

I'll take off the road wheel and have a look for any excessive play in the next few days. Given the age of the car, it's either a DIY job, or put up with it/scrap it.

I'm hoping it's something cheap that I can fix myself so I can sell it on as I've just bought a van.

    ;)
