Footballers and rugby players disgraced, girlfriend is an ex page 3 girl, cycling is resurgent

    Where does this leave Cav?

Awaiting the tabloid backlash, I'd say!

    On what grounds?

Since when did they need grounds?

Can you give me an example of where they didn't have grounds and invented a story where it did not have repercusions on them?

Or can you hypotheically give me an example of something they could throw at Cav without grounds?

They are newspapers, ie supposed to be fact not fiction.

I know things can become a blur sometimes ....

We can't really tell if they're lying through their teeth or not. I remember a friend of mine from school was supposed to have been dating a British star, she was a winner of x-factor, Britain's got talent or some other reality show, as they were photoed leaving a supermarket, only problem is my mate is as gay as Christmas so I knew it wasn't true. You only hear about the ones with repercussions, if there's no repercussions, they're hardly going to publish that they were lying, are they?

    Generally they don't, no.

But going back to the post that said the tabloids will get Cav I can't see that happening myself as he is generally a clean cut guy.

I assert that your typical British person won't get too worked up about any of the divilment he may undertake in the peloton unless its alot more severe than what he's already done. I dont think they'd be too bothered.

As regards his personal life I'd say he's content enough with his better half.

I suppose what I'm getting at is if he plays his cards right and wins gold in London next year he could be the next Beckham!?!

Chris Hoy has a high profile so I don't see why Cav can't be selling breakfast cereals in a couple of years time.

On the grounds it's what tabloids do. Build them up, then knock them down.

I have a fear for Cav, when the relationship with Ms Todd started that bastion of honest reporting The S*n was referring to them as Our Cav and Peta, no offence to the girl at all but she makes her money from getting herself in the papers, and I'm not sure that once you are in that circle you can get out of it. Cav has started to slip into that world as well, talk show appearances as a couple, interviews here and there, and once the tabloid press think you belong to them, well then your story is theirs for the telling.

Lets hope Cav doesn't have an acrimonious break-up somewhere down the line.

There will, hopefully, be a lot of other contenders to get their pictures on the front of your box of Frosties after next summer. With the cycling being first up every one may have forgotten about it by the end of the second week.

Unless he can pull off winning the yellow jersey the week before as well as getting the first gold.

Those breakfast cereal contracts are going to be hard to come by. :)
