If I claim tax relief on medical expenses for 2007 do revenue send
a refund cheque or how does it all work.

I am going to claim on line ( first time) .
If I am actually entitled to anything I would like to get a cheque rather than some sort of credit/ relief for next year .

Is the paye site as easy as it looks eg: select year /enter amount/click submit.

    Thanks for help.

PS. how will I know if I have submitted my claim correctly and that revenue have received it.. not many days left to claim.

    Again thanks.

As its a prior tax year, ie not this active tax year, any claims which result in a refund are paid via cheque or to your bank account.

The site is very easy to use. Everything is colour coded. Green for what you have already claimed, blue for what you may be able to claim and grey for what you can't. Each tax year is shown as a separate tab. There are several videos in the login page which show you how to use the site.

You will know that the claim is submitted correctly by checking the correspondence tab, which will show any changes you have submitted. Just follow the onscreen prompts and you will be fine.

I don't think you can claim for 2007 - it is for the last four years only. I haven't looked at the paye online site, but the pdf form says from 2008 onwards

You can still claim for 2007, as long as you submit the claim in the next 2 days! Get your finger out OP...!!

Oh are you sure Barry? The claim for 2007 would make quite a difference to my house. Thanks.

there is a rolling 4 year back period for u claiming from them so the current 4 are 2007-8-9-10

on 1/1/2012 it will be 2008-9-10-11 as 12 is the active year
