American Football For Dummies

So I've recently started watching the NFL. Now watched plenty of Superbowls over the last few years, and some college ball late at night.

Am properly now trying to get into the sport. Support a team and learn all the rules.

I bought Madden 10 to start off with. Am using the Texans, not sure if they are the team for me though. Don't know why but I have a liking for Seattle and Baltimore.

I don't want to support a Man United or City type of francise, that are either frequent superbowl winners or big money teams.

Is there an American Football for dummies video haha.

Anyway am completely open minded and think this could be a very helpful thread for those new to the sport picking who to follow

What is it exactly you want to know more about? Im guessing having watched a few games and played some madden that you know the most basic rules. Just ask a few questions, best way to get answers ;)

    A wise choice

    NFL UK have something here
    http://www.nfluk.com/learn

There is a quiz and you enter some details and it picks up your team
Fickle, angry and never slow to boo your team; you must be an Eagles fan :p

There is also a video series.
It's quite long but it's witty and they have some NFL players there to talk you through it.

The question is, do you want to get into American Football as a sport or become a better informed fan of the game that is played in USA and shown on TV.

The sport is played in Ireland, albeit at a comparably low level to the televised version, but this is the place to get an understanding of the sport.

Find out where your local team trains and go see what they are doing, maybe even talk to coaches.

This might even help you understand what is going on during a televised game.

I actually know a few Rebels players over the years. I've no interest in getting into playing. I'm literally tiny. Like I'm too small to play scrum half in Rugby so could hardly play Football.

I'm looking to decide who to follow n for a reasonably good reason other than their jerseys look nice which is why I'm thinking Seattle r Baltimore.

Down the bottom, there are two options

Jerseys are updating to Nike this summer, you can buy now or hang on and wait

You dont have to be big to play....or coach, or referee or just volunteer to help out.

Some questions you should ask in the search for a team. What kind of football do you like? Tough defence? Ground and pound offence? A team that airs it out?
