    which should I get for a 6 year old Dsi xl or 3Ds?
    any good deals out there?

    I don't know about deals, but DSiXL is basically the same as the DS technology released back in early 2005 in Ireland so it's 7+ year old technology basically!
    The 3DS is the next generation, it offers a ton of new features, as well as the 3D effect. (Which is completely optional btw)

    It's like comparing a PS2 and PS3. The PS3 would be the obvious choice nowadays!

    The 3DS will play every single DS game, and the newer 3DS titles. There's not going to be much released for the DS consoles in future however the 3DS has a ton of games lined up.

    So basically the better choice (and future proofed) is the 3DS.
