No service problem

i have got an iphone 4s for christmas on o2, i put the sim card in today and in the top left of the screen it sais (no service), does anybody know how to fix this thanks.

Maybe make sure airplane mode is switched off......

Did you buy the phone new, or second hand? If the SIM works in another phone, and the is set up correctly, there's a possibility that it could be blocked.
