Of all the stuff that was waiting for me over the years on the 25th of December, the stuff I loved most was Lego and books - and occasionally a Meccano set.
    Aaa.. the memories! :o

Does anyone have similar favourites and/or willing to say what their best toys were that they got on a particular faithful morning?

Any year I got a bike was a winner. Subutteo and 'keeper's gloves was pretty special too. Also loved getting a first generation Walkman when they were only months out.

The adverts always made it look great and cool to have - wanted one but never got it.
Perhaps Santa at the time knew better and in the end, it was probably better off not delivered by him. :pac:

Pool table was the best I think. (It wasn't a slate one but it was pretty good)

I got a Sinclair Spectrum 48K as a young'un and was so senseless that I thought it would know my name when I started it up!

    Bless :o

The year myself and my brother got a Playstation 2 from my parents.

We didn't get a Megadrive until we were relatively old and it was after asking at Christmas for years on end, and we never had an N64 or PS1. The Playstation 2 was just launched that year, around October or November or so. It was impossible to find in the shops, they were all booked up and no-one had them spare. My brother and I didn't even bother asking for one, it was too hard to find and it cost far too much, and we were too old to expect our parents to go to that trouble or expense.

Coming up to Christmas we went to a few Christmas parties with my parents. At one of them my mother called me over to meet a friend if hers, and said that she had gotten her kids a PS2 and was looking for advice on what games and peripherals to give them with it (this was totally believable, this woman generally got her kids awesome presents.) So I spent about half an hour gushing over how awesome they were, and explained to this other mother about what she would need to get for her kids to go with the PS2.

Anyway, Christmas morning came and we had a pretty good haul. I can't remember exactly but it was decent stuff, books, board-games, smelly stuff, etc. And then the parents said they had a special present for myself and my brother that we were to share, and to beware that this would only ever happen this Christmas. Anyway, a big, fancy, sturdy paper bag was produced and handed to us. And in it was a Playstation 2. I swear to Christ, despite being nearly 16 I was like a five year old all over. It was like Nintendo 64 kid all over again. :D

Still remember that as being one of the best Christmas presents ever. Not the best Christmas in general, but best present.

tea set ( ok was I about 6 ) Used to sit in my room having tea parties with lemonade and biscuits with my dolls- pure bliss. When Christmas was over and the goodies were gone, used milk and bread, never as good.
