want to add component outs to my original xbox, opposed to buying a cable because i have the parts here and having 3 rca sockets is handier than a proprietary cable,

http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/xbox.htm heres a decent pinout for it but theres a couple of things bothering me, obviously i solder the wires to the appropriate spot on the motherboard but what do i do about the earth for each plug? is it shared and so i can just earth them all off the one earth pin on the AV jack.

also notice i need some selection pins, are these just grounded in the same fashion? twould be nice to be able to put in a 3 way switch for component pal stereo and ntsc stereo, what sort of switch is needed to make that happen?

has anyone done somthing similar before?

as usual advice is much appreciated on the matter.

I used the very same guide. Earth can be connected to any earth on the mainboard

so taking this, ive no interest in the coax or optical so those will be left out. can i use a dpst switch here instead of 2 single switches? i take it they are both closed when you want component and both open for no cable plugged in?

thats ideally how id do it ive no interest in any of the other connections for the time being. RGB scart would be nice but ill probabaly mod a cable for that one, i would mod a component cable only the TV that needs component is wall mounted so plugging cables will be a royal bitch.

so i did the mod and it works very well, nice 720p/1080i output, one mistake i made was i bridged the 2 mode select pins and earthed them through a switch, but with the switch off they still bridge so putting in a cable will select the wrong mode, interestingly enough this also causes the console to turn itself on and i cannot turn it off it just sits with its no video light blinking, not to worry though ill get around to fixing it next week , have another xbox to do then so its no biggie, ill also do a worklog on that one to show anybody who likes that kinda thing
