    Strange one for you folks.

If i park my car on my drive for a couple of days there is a wallet size patch of oil on the ground. Now when i rub it its quite dry but yet its still there.

strangly enough if i park on the flat road this does not happen...

My estimate is that there is a slight oil leak in the engine and its falling onto the splash plate at the bottom. Then when i park on an incline for a day of 2 it falls off.

I had it serviced earlier in the year and i was talking to the mechanic the other day and he said he noticed the oil and he could not find where it came from.

Any ideas... The dipstick is not dropping so to speak..

Your sure its engine oil, black? The intercooler pipe splits on these and if its slip bad enough it can cause oil spray to come out. Make sure its not leaking out of the bung.

    Forgive my ignorence.....

Do you mean the bung on the oil sump....

There was a leak on this long long ago but i had it fixed. It turned out that a previous service had sheered one of the bolts.

When you say the intercooler sprays oil is this something i need to worry about .

Yeah I mean the bung on the oil sump. That intercooler pipe usually leads to a messy engine bay and can cause damage to vacuum pipes and water pipes. Its only if the pipe is completely split it will really start to put oil out. Just once the pipe is not split you have nothing to worry about. If you look under the bonnet it will be blatantly obviously of oil around. The camshaft oil seal can also leak on these and the sump. Easy to tell its a Peugeot engine:p You could also be leaking oil from a driveshaft oil seal.
Take the under tray off to have a better look.

It could also be the power steering pipe problem which is so common on the ford focus.it could be staring to go.check your power steering fluid.and if it's not that it could be the sump plug or the crank shaft oil seal it could also be coming out of a seal on the turbo.it could be anything but without checking or seen its very hard to say.but defo check the power steering

This is a 1.6 diesel, it dosen't give power steering pipe issues. It is electronic pump.

All my fluids are fine. Once i checked them i was worried that maybe there was a gearbox leak but i cannot see one.

It will be next to impossible to see the drive shaft oil seals from above. Pop it up in the air on a ramp.

Didn't relies about the pump sorry.but the others could be thes inssue either.

Are you sure they all have an electronic pump. I have an 05 one and it has what seems to be a power steering fluid reservoir underneath the driver side light assembly

There is a breather pipe which runs from the rocker cover to the intake pipe which is very prone to breaking and allowing oil mist to spray out.

Have a look at this pic....I've marked where to look,

Your bang on. and its held together fine and dandy by cable ties. but the ironry is my oil level has not dropped yet. do you think this might be the problem...

It is very common for that pipe to either form a split or the clips at the end of it break as they are flimsy in design. Afaik the pipe costs about €70/€80 from a Ford dealer and takes about 5 to 10 mins to replace.

No according to my local ford dealer its 160 euro. The local garage just cabled tied it and its worked fine ever since but i am wondering now if the oil mist is condensing on the tray and spilling out when on an incline.

The amount that could be coming out over time can be enough to be noticed on the ground, especially if it builds up a bit on the undertray, but not enough to be immediately noticeable on the dipstick.

If pricing the part new, try a ford dealer, a mazda dealer, a peugeot dealer and a citroen dealer, the all use the exact same engine and all sell the exact same part......at different prices, so just buy it from whoever is the cheapest.

Folks, thank you very much. If i could find out the part name perhaps i could order it from micks garage or somewhere like that.

The problem with ordering it from a breakers yard would be that the clamps need to be broken to get it off.

Thanks again, will give you some feed back as i get it.

Parts like that wouldn't normally be available after market, they'd be dealer only unfortunately

There is a decent lad on here called Hellrazer who works in a Ford/Volvo dealership. Drop him a pm, he may be able to offfer you a discount off the price of the part if you order it from him. I bought parts from him in the past and recommend him.
