    Hiya,

This morning my pc keeps switching off after about 20mins. It doesn't shut down as normal. At first I thought there was a power cut.

It could be a temperature issue? But I wouldn't know where to start with that.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like thermal safety shut down alright. what were you doing when it shut down?

Just browsing and a spot of photoshop.

I did have the case open yesterday to remove dust..maybe I did something then.

Removed video card for dusting. Now it won't boot up and I get a msg saying BOOTMGR is missing!

Now the screen has gone all red with black lines everywhere :-(

Edit: removed all but video card, reset CMOS by removing and replacing.

Monitor cable wasn't incorrectly hence red lines.

    Adding extra cards individually.

Make sure the CPU fan is working correctly and the fan on the GPU is also working correctly. It is possible during cleaning you may have damaged one of either fans (you shouldn't manually turn them as it wears down the bearings I think) which is worth looking at

    Cheers!

    Just checked them...all spinning!

I am kinda hoping its the video card as I was considering an upgrade anyway!

Maybe try running the machine using the onboard graphics, and your graphics card removed? :) Won't do much on Photoshop then, but check see if it still shuts down.

Seems to be working fine now! Have had it on for 2 hours without it switching off!
