Lads, the girlfriends saxo is making a whining noise constantly when the car is switched off, we went into her bros and came out an hour later and car was still whining ! A quick google indicates its possibly a PAS pump issue.

As it was dark I've just disconnected the negative terminal on the battery for now so the battery doesn't drain (whine goes away obviously!)

I know its a tricky one to diagnose over the web, just wondering does anything jump out

you probably would have noticed when disconnecting the battery but could it be the fan on back of radiator?
what area of the car is it coming from?

mmmm maybe the heater unit. best thing to do is remove and replace the fuses one by one. when the whine stops when you remove your fuse thats your answer. just check in the manual or on fuse box to see which fuse does what.

pretty sure it doesn't have AC..I was the fuses i went through 80% of them and I said **** it and took the neg off the batt...but I suppose that would narrow down the root cause!

That only runs with the engine on.

Definitely not the washer pump with an empty tank?

    I'll have a look for a diagram/
