I find hot alcoholic drinks work a treat...
Hot Jameson or better hot Brandy & Port.. magic..

Mightn't really be a cure but you'll feel a hell of alot better after 3 or 4..:D

Be careful, I was heavily medicated with flu meds for a session last weekend and ended up pissing the bed.

If you have the flu, then you wont be going out!

If you can make it out, then you have a cold.

Don't let that stop you telling everyone you're full of flu though.

    Power through! Just keep sessioning!

Lemsip, although it tastes rank, is hard beat for getting rid of a cold. And drink lots and lots of fluids. Basically p1ss the cold out of you.

Do the fludance, similar to the raindance, invented for stopping the flu.

Also, to the poster above me, lemsip is lovely, why I would have one right now if I could

Take a cold shower and then run around the block naked three times

it won't cure the flu, but it will give pneumonia and they can cure that mostly

Wear all your clothes, get into bed, crank up electric blanket, got to sleep, wake up like a new man in the morning. Albeit sweaty. Have shower, job done.

There is no-way, you just have to let it run its course, you can take the usual pain killers that ease the symptons.

But I swear by Garlic, perhaps it has the placebo effect on me.

If you had the flu you wouldn't be able to move stiff joints and shivering ;) What you have is a head cold ;)

There is no cure for flu - nothing will get rid of it. No tablet will make you better (esp not antibiotics - don't get me started on d!ckheads taking them in wrong situations). Your immune system needs a few days to kick its ass. There is a bitch of a flu going around at the moment, I had it two weeks ago and was very sick for 3/4 days (and still not 100% back to myself). Just make sure you drink lots of fluids, hot ones if possible, and take some paracetamol to bring down the temperature. If you can take a multi vitamin or vitamin C all the better. After this sleep, sleep and more sleep. Taking a preemptive "flu tablet" will do nothing at all.

If you even considering stepping outside of the house, you don't have a flu.

    blast it with whiskey.

also, you dont have the flu, anyone who's ever had the actual flu will tell you, it makes you feel like death, you cant move, never mind go out or whinge you have a bit of a sniffle on boards.

    Drink water.
    Have hot shower.
Have an hour or two sleep.
    Relax.
Don't stress about it....arrive when you feel it, even a bit late...just call and explain.
Keep it easy for the start.

There's nothing wrong with mixing antibiotics with alcohol. Your thinking of pain killers.

I had the flu last week for a day. The day of the big game, I could only play the first half before a headache sidelined me. Was only able to stay out till 3am for the aftermatch session too. I hate the Flu but got rid of it after a day by taking some antibiotics I had left over from the time I had viral meningitus. I had to take a half day off work for that one!!

Ive had the flu for the last 8 days have had to take the week of work, been in bed since last friday only time ive got out is to make limsip and bathroom, so maybe its just me but i definitly wouldnt have been going out, Saying that ive asthma so that makes it worse breathing wise but have felt awful either way

A rake of drink and a good kip always does the trick - Though I cant actually remember the last time I had the flu or any other illness.

All these claims of having flu -
No you don't - what you have is a cold, that's all.
If you had the flu you would be in bed for two weeks, wishing you were dead, not being able to lift your head off the pillow, hurting at every joint.

It's just a cold - don't be so dramatic, and wash your hands more often.

You're whining and the HSE are spending money on a campaign on inappropriate antibiotic use. I don't get it.

People are taking them because GP's are prescribing them! GP's are meant to know this stuff not the patients!

Do GP's not have the balls to refuse antibiotics in case the patient goes elsewhere?

No it won't. Worst thing you could do. A few hot whiskeys and straight to bed will work though.

Hey buddy, I know the difference between a cold and the Flu or Viral Meningitus. I can work through a cold but I had to take a half day off for the Meningitus!!
