winload.exe problem

    Hi All,

I've tried all the different solutions to resolve this problem on my laptop. I'm running win 7 home pemium and as soon as my computer turns on it gives me the winload error.

I've lost my original windows disk but have used a win 7 pro 64 bit disk I've got from IT dept in work to try run the repair options.

None of these seem to work so looks like i'll need to do a full re-install of win 7.

My question is will I be able to use the product code from my laptop if I use the install disk I got from work ?

Or will it be best if I download a version of win 7 home premium online and boot from a USB drive and then install from that and use my product key ?

also one final question? will I be able to use the same product key again ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

With the disc you have boot off it, choose "Repair this computer" and then choose command prompt.
    Type at this:
    bootrec.exe /fixboot
    [enter]
    bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    [enter]

    See if that helps

typed that, got message for both advising operation had been completed succesfully and then restarted,

    no luck.

not sure if I completed the process corectly, should I do a different step after typing the first two lines ?

Nope, you type one line and enter, then the other vand enter. This fixes the boot manager and records. Your error seems to be associated with a corrupted or missing boot manager. I would download a Windows 7 home ISO here and reinstall, yes your serial number will work with this ISO and activate alrite.

    Hi Again,

I've finally got around to trying to fix this laptop, I've downloaded the ISO from the site suggested but when I put it onto a USB and try boot from it on the corrupt machine I get an error missing operating system.

Can anyone advise me what I'm doing wrong ? do I need to extract the files from the ISO to a DVD or the USB ? Do I need to download another piece of software to load the iso ?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to use something like this to make your USB key bootable with Windows!
