Has anyone a contact for Wing chun in Galway? They may have disbanded as the contacts I have are no longer working.

    Hi Banbh,

This is the only contact that I have for them. It is on facebook.
    http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Wing-Chun-Kung-Fu-Club-Galway/183878558302872?sk=wall&filter=1

There is also an email address in the info section that you might try.

If you don't have any luck and are prepared to travel, you should come to our Sligo school. www.wingtsun-sligo.ie

    Michael

    Hi,

The facebook link for Galway Wing Chun has been taken down so I think it is safe to assume there are no longer any classes.

Is there any chance, Michael, that you could send a tutor, or better still come yourself, to Galway once a month to take a class and those interested could work away on their own in between?

    Hi Banbh,

It is something that I did consider and would like to be able to do however personally I don't really have time and I am not sure if my guys have the time either. It is hard enough running the Blanchardstown school and providing support to the other schools but I will keep it in mind.

Personally I think the best way is if someone in Galway is interested in becoming a working group leader, then they travel to Dublin on a regular basis as do the instructors from Maynooth, Wexford and Sligo. As they would be the ones who reap the rewards of a successful school in Galway, I feel that they should be the ones to put the initial effort in.

This may seem a little harsh however I have been burned in the past by providing free training and travelling long distances to give seminars for small groups of people to get them up and started in the expectation that they would put similar effort.

So if anyone is interested in becoming a working group leader, we will give them all the support that we can including regular seminars, gradings, etc, but as they are the ones who ultimately gain, we ask that they put the effort in.

    Regards,

    Michael

You can't say fairer than that. Much obliged.
I'll have to give it serious thought.

Hiya, I know I'm jumping into a thread that's a bit old now but I was looking for a wing chun class in Galway also and wondered if there'd been any change with regards to finding an instructor or a group being started? Cheers.
