Just changed laptop and can't get Sky Go operating on above platform. Uploaded M/S Silverlight as requested in Sky Go website but nothing working. Seems that there is a problem with silverlight working with IE 64 bit. Anyone found a workaround solution?

Try Firefox. It works fine with that on Windows 7

Have you registered your Laptop in settings. Firefox is a much quicker browser than IE.

or try using 32 bit IE which should be installed by default along with the 64 bit

you need to register your new laptop with sky go.... otherwise it wont work. also use firefox with adblock plus addon (helps prevent the sky advert popups from annoying ya)

It's most likely this - I don't think there's a 64-bit ActiveX control for Silverlight. Stick with 32-bit browsers, the difference in performance is insignificant.

Working no problem with 32 bit IE on above OS but to be honest Chrome is far better. I have PC plugged in to 42 inch TV and Chrome has no issues displaying Sky where as IE stutters a bit

Works fine for me in IE9. Who even uses Firefox anymore, its rubbish compared to Chrome/Opera/IE9/Notepad/Paint.

I use it as my main browser and I don't have any problems using it. What do you find rubbish about it?

    Way of topic but...
I find Firefox as good as any others. It's mainly a matter of personal preference. I particularly like the fact that I don't get warnings every few days "There is a new security update for IE"

This really put me off for a long time. It was only with the UI changes in IE7-9 that I began to lose interest and I found Chrome too minimalist.

That's not so true nowadays, every few weeks when I open Firefox there's a new update for it. Only difference is that it installs itself.

i use firefox 9.0.1... yes versions 4 -> 7 were rubbish but from 8.0 onwards firefox runs great.... i find google chrome hogs memory compared to firefox 9.0.1

My computer is so good I never notice issues like that.

I am a fanboy? Nice one.

I didn't suggest that you were, fanboy culture is just one of the reasons that I don't like the Firefox experience.

Firefox users do often seem to be very emotionally involved in their choice of web browser.

It works so that would be my choice. Chrome I did use but I got fed up of it.
