Dirty petrol - does such a thing even exist?

so here is the story - my mam bought a car just over a week ago. last fri night we went overt to it and only the drivers door opened nothing else. then on sat morning to start at all. no drive prob before that, she drove from limerick to kildare on fri evening.
the breakdown guy said the key was broken and the immobiliser was on so need to get the spare key and try it. did that and no luck. so the seller - a kinda part-time dealer - asked to get the immobiliser turned off and try again. my local garage said no way would they do it, only a dealer should.
So yer man collects the car on monday and dropped it back mam yesterday after spending '2 days getting dirty petrol out'
my question is is there even such a thing as dirty petrol and if so would it immobilise an 05 sazuki liana with no prior warning?
    pretty clueless myself.

Well first there is no way that dirty petrol could effect the immobiliser and second its very unlikely that you wouldn't have poor running before it failed to start if dirty petrol was the issue.

Likely there was something else wrong and he was trying to make it look like something you/your mam did rather then a faulty car.
