New build: Display driver stopped responding

I built a new PC a few weeks ago, primarily for use as a HTPC, with the following spec:

Antec NSK1380 case with 350W Antec PSU (80-Plus certified)
    Intel DH67GD motherboard
    Intel Core i3 2100
    8GB DDR3 1333 (2x4GB G-Skill Ripjaw)
    1TB HDD
    LG BD-ROM drive
TerraTec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS for DVB-T
TerraTec Cinergy S2 PCI HD for DVB-S/S2
    Windows 7 Home Premium

I set it up on Saorview for now as I don't have access to a satellite dish for a few weeks. With the integrated Intel video I noticed interlacing issues on high motion scenes. So I tried two video cards in an attempt to correct this. First was an ATI 5450 - while it was better than the Intel it still wasn't right. I then tried an NVidia GT440 and it was perfect. Or so I thought... If I put the machine to sleep, upon resuming it takes about 10-15 seconds for me to get any image, followed by the infamous "Display driver stopped responding and was recovered" message. I tried various drivers to resolve this:

275.33 (came with the card) - Takes about 10 seconds to wake but does not give the "Display driver stopped responding" error. However I did get it while watching TV, requring Media Center to be restarted.
280.26 - Stops responding and recovers (Video TDR Timeout) when resuming from sleep
285.62 - Unusable. No video in Media Center (known bug)
    290.53 beta - Same as 280.26

I have come across this issue before with other people's machines but am not sure what it could be in this case. Do I have a faulty card?
