Abbey Travel Euro Trip €2,400

While it could be argued this should be included in the thread on soccer tickets and travel I feel the package from the "offical" travel agents of the FAI deserves a seperate thread to the general discussion.

    http://www.abbeytravel.ie/sports-package/events/euro-2012-3-match-package

Its an absolutly crazy price, flying out only the day before game 1 and flying back the night of game 3 (No time to join in the celebrations if we qualify), Its only 8 nights accomodation and from my reading of the add ( could be wrong) the price is before match tickets but you have the opportunity to buy them at face value, with tickets costing between €50 and €100 depending on the section of the stand its about €2,600 total.

While I understand they are a business and need to make a profit, I feel they are taking advantage of people adding on signifigant premiums because of the guarentee of match tickets.

While I was lucky to get tickets sorted last march, I was not particularly quick off the ball in relation to accomodation, Im flying out 3 days before abbey and paying about half of the abbey package. There are many people who were quicker than me paying about 70% of the amount I am asside from the people taking the cheeper campervan/camping option.

The other operators have yet to set out thier price for the 3 game packages but they will probably be priced simmilarly, I think UEFA need to consider the amount of tickets they allocate to Travel Agents so they cant take advantage of people like this, if people didnt have to get the guarenteed tickets the cost of these packages would probably be far cheeper.

Club Travel have a package for

    €1399 + €95 Tax so lets call it €1500,

No Match Tickets with this , but lets say you get you tickets on the Uefa portal

at an average of €100 a piece , that €1800 all in for a 10 night package.

    There doing installments too.

I think UEFA need to consider the amount of tickets they allocate to Travel Agents

    :confused::confused::confused:

UEFA don't give a single ticket to travel agents.

That's the best I have seen yet , still expensive but getting better.

My trip is coming in at €920 - Flights , Camper Van , match tickets x2 , 9 days (exc diesel and campsite parking fee)

Flying in and out of Gdansk .
Camper Van rental from Gdansk .

Going for the Spain and Italy games and then who knows we will see :)

There will be demand for this anyway so I'd say they can justify the price tag.

I know of a few people who have travelled with them before that might be interested in this instead of taking summer holidays.

:confused::confused::confused: thats a crazy amount, far from the best. what about the people who booked everything well in advance?

im hoping my trip ( flights, train and apartment) comes to about 400 for the 10 days plus what ever category tickets we get.

I was commenting that the price tag of €1500 was the best/lowest I have seen to date .still expensive but when compared to the ridiculous prices from
Abbey Travel and others then yes they are the best .

€400 would be a great price .. Have you anything booked ?
    Flights , accom etc ?

They're by far and away the most expensive I've seen. 747 travel came in with a fairly reasonable package too. While €1,500 is still a lot of money, you're flying direct, staying in bricks amd mortar accommodation and getting all your transfers as well as having the whole thing arranged for you. If I had it, I'd consider doing it. But I don't, so I'm doing it myself! Will more than likely end up in a campsite but who cares. It'll be class!

Yes they do. I spoke to Abbey travel. They received tickets from the FAI and UEFA.

With that in mind - shouldn't the FAI/UEFA set out maximum prices which the travel agents are allowed charge? They are effectively bumping up the prices of flights/accommodation as a way of charging more for the tickets. It's ticket touting. Just because its a travel agent and not a one legged man in trackys doesn't make it any less sneaky.

They have a deal with the FAI not UEFA.

You'd be doing some mega lucky charm work to get it all in for that money.

As stated have you anything booked yet? because 400 is quite a large ask.

As I said, I have spoken to them in detail about this. They are UEFA's preferred travel partner and have received tickets from them as well as FAI.

Simple solution nobody pay for it and leave them stung, then sit back and watch the prices fall

All affiliated tour agents with UEFA have a deal with UEFA,

Your given a code from the Tour agents and there is special tour agent customer section to log in and buy your tickets on the UEFA ticket portal

In Ireland , I think Abbey are the only official agent , but Thompson can also trade here under the same scheme.

Beware, they are no match tickets with 747, all you're getting is transport and accommodation, you have to get your own match tickets through the ticket portal, ridiculous false advertising on their part when you consider they put it under their "extras".

its costing me just under €1000 for flights, accommodation and the 3 group game tickets.

747 are also not using accommodation in the host cities, they are in Torun etc where hotels are cheaper anyway

Yeah I'm looking at camping out there + travel accumulating to around €440. Then tickets which are around €75. I'm hoping to get to two matches meaning €590.
€2800 or even €1600 is ridiculous and avoidable.

Yeah, that's for the 3 match package (even though it's not really a "match" package), I think the package based on only the Spain and Italy games is set for 4 nights in Gdańsk, then get transported up to Poznan for the final game before going home. In all honesty though I don't see the point in most of these packages when you're not getting a ticket with it; that's the hard part for fans, travel and accommodation is easy in comparison and can be obtained by any functioning human with money.

With two Cat 1s and one Cat 2, I think flights accommodation and tickets it's costing me just over a grand for 12 nights. Could have done the accommodation cheaper but, if it works out, I think we'll have a very good trip.

    +1

Totally agree, an extra means that they should be able to supply it to you themselves. It certainly doesn't mean that you have to go out and get your own. I'd say a lot of people have made the mistake of booking with them under the false pretense that they would get match tickets on request as they are listed as an "extra".
