ESPN classic had the 1985 final between bob anderson and eric bristow on at 6:30 today.

i couldnt believe what i was witnessing.. both players holding a cigerrete in their non throwing hand while up at the board.

everytime there was a bounce out the score said unlucky.

boy darts has changed an awful lot from those days.

I remember seeing Bob Lowes 9 darter live on the BBC in BW. Around '85 I'd say.

i can remember the great darters of the late 70s,the likes of the first world champ, alun evens, the great and well loved laton reese, the england captain bill lenard[who gave me my first set of tungston darts] i was very lucky to have played against them all,in comps and exhibitions, the only one i ever managed to beat was alun,

They are just after showing that game against Deller when he hit the 9 darter. Lowe went on to beat Big Cliff Lazeranko in the final of the MFI.

More darts classics on xmas eve on ESPN Classic from the eighties at 1 00pm and 1 30pm. Darts in the eighties was brilliant, pints and fags galore on stage as well as loads of brilliant darts! John Lowe's 9 darter was a major achievement back in 1984 on a board with narrower trebles and doubles than the current boards and to earn £100,000 for it back then was an unbelievable amount of money.

I would love to see the current crop of players play on one of the old boards. Would they hit so many 180’s or 9 dart finishes? Don’t think so………….. But would love to see them have a go.
