    Will a new employer be able to find out you have been claiming jobseekers benefit and for how long from revenue commisioners?

    Nope, not directly - that would breach your data protection rights.

    But you are generally expected to hand in your P45 to a new employer when commencing (if you have one for the current year), so there will be a certain amount of information on that, from which they can ascertain how long it is since you finished (and by extension how long you were unemployed)...

    No. The only information your employer receives from Revenue is a Tax Credit cert detailing the credits and rate band assigned to them. Nothing on the cert refers to DSP payments. Your rate band and credits may have been reduced by the payments so an employer might wonder why they are low. They however will not be provided with the reason why they are low by Revenue.
