    Hi all.

just querying something quickly. getting an android on christmas, and i have a few apps to download and install, which ive identified already in the market (coming from iphone).

i dont want to lose too much time searching and downloading apps all the time. what i am thinking of doing is downloading them today and tomorrowfrom apktop (legit apk download from market) and installing them on the big day.

what i am wondering is, is there a way to get market on the new phone to recognise those apps and update them accordingly when updates come out?

is that automatic usually, or if they are not installed via market, then tough luck?

I think, but am not 100% sure, thats its tough luck. I know there is an app I got from XDA and installed (NoLed) and that didn't/couldn't update through the market.
I've since uninstalled the xda version and installed the market version of it and it updates fine now

If the apps are 100% legit they should update.

To allow you to install them you'll need to go to Settings>Applications and tick Unknown Sources.

If they are free apps you can download the apk then there are apps that will create the link to the market for you.
Bare in mind if they are illegal apps(boo) then they can be linked too but you will be asked to buy them. But we don't condone the downloading of illegal apps.
