Whirlpool AWM3000/5 filter plug keeps blocking

In our new (to us!) house the last people left the washing machine. It was full of water but when I checked the filter plug it was utterly gunked up with nasty stuff so cleaned that out and got one load fine out of the machine afterwards.

However next load its blocked up again with fresh cloths threads I guess?
In our old house the washer never blocked up like that so I'm wondering :-

    1) Is there another filter somewhere that should be catching these?
    2) Is it possible that the filter pump is shagged from then the plug was totally blocked and isn't able to draw stuff through that it would have before and as a result is blocking easily?
    3) The nasty stuff from before is still in the system backed up?

I've cleaned out the plug again and am running a new load and its fine, but I suspect two loads later I'm going to be back to square one.

If it is the filter pump, is that a DIY job or is it time to junk the machine and cut my losses?

Put the machine on a boil wash with soap powder and no clothes

Thanks, gave that a try but no go.
I got a replacement drain pump and looking at videos online it seems doable to replace myself so that's a project for the holidays and the wife to laugh at :)

If you have the travel bolts that came with the machine screw them back in before you start the pump replacement,it helps to keep everything steady.

I got a new drain pump and it seems it is the correct one (I've checked several website and they all show the same one I have) however the power connector is different.

I guess I need some kind of adapter or converter? All the online places seem to be closed when I call them and am getting desperate at this stage for a working washing machine, is there any place in Dublin I could get one?
