When i insert the batteries into the camera it will switch on then turn off again .. i have tried charging re-chargeable batteries which dont work either.. i have only used the camera a few times but i didnt have the problem then.. anyone any idea's on what the problem might be??
    or what i should do,

    Thanks

HAVE YOU TRIED USING ANOTHER SET OF BATTERIES APART FROM THE RECHARGEABLE ONES?

Does the camera have a wired power adapter you can plug in to the wall? If it does, try that. Some can run off USB too...

You want to find out if you are just loosing power, or if it is a more serious problem.

Also, is it just instantly blacking out like it lost power, or going through a 'shut down' like when you normally hit the power button?

Is it under warranty?. if so do nothing with it and send it back to get repaired or replaced. If not try powering it through power cable, plug it into the computer and see if you can re-install the software/firmware in case its a software issue. To be honest though Id be surprised if the second option works for you. in all likelihood you've damaged a capacitor or some part of the power unit and its time for a new camera :(
