A friend of mine was working in an establishment for 40 years and the current owner started about 13 years after her

she retired this year because of health she is 62 years of age

what she wanted to know was is she entitled to any kind of redundancy, after 40 years of service or does she loose that because she was forced to leave on poor h ealth

I don't think so, redundancy occurs when the company closes down or it reduces the number of employees, neither of which seem to apply in this case.

Was your friend and her employer paying social insurance contributions in respect of her employment? If so then she might qualify for Illness benefit.

As coylemj says - she was not made redundant but rather left due to poor health , no redundancy payment in these circumstances.
