Fiesta Clutch Woes, help needed

    I have a 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25

This evening the clutch wouldn't disengage and the pedal went to the floor. After pumping it went back up.

Now I've replaced the gearbox months ago, which means the slave was replaced along with the box (its silly having it integral in the bellhousing )

Whats the most common leak in the brake fluid system? Or the clutch? Its taking in air somewhere...

The car is due its retest on the 15th of Jan... Need sorting asap!

    Thanks for any help :)

The plastic coupling where the metal pipe connects into the slave cylinder could be ur problem.it could also be a slave cylinder it's self or the other option is there was still a bubble of air cought in the system from the last time and just happened to surface now.just look on the ground under the gearbox for brake fluid to rule out ur slave cylinder

Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir? Does it have seperate reservoirs for the clutch and brake or are they combined? If they are combined the the clutch feed will be taken off at a higher level, so a normal drop in level due to brake wear could cause your problem.

Its a black piece if I remember correctly, screws into the box and the pipe just clips into it... Must have a look at it after, I have a spare one lying about somewhere if it needs replacing :)

The fluid is always going down, the car has put up barely 1000 miles for me and its guzzled a litre of fluid

The reservoir for the brakes also feeds the clutch, I've bled it several times.

Where is the clutch master cylinder located in these cars?

If it's not under the bonnet it's probably above the clutch pedal under the dash. (generally a hoor to get at when it's located there!)

Just found it there, its at the pedal, looks a nightmare to replace! :D

I think I've found my leak: it seems to be coming from the slave cylinder, again. Not looking foreward to replacing this :(

I'll keep this thread updated with pics!
