I have a mk2 Punto Sporting. It needs some assembly and was modified by the previous owner (remap, alloys, straight exhaust etc). Cheap as chips, I'm sick looking at it going to loss. PM if interested :)

We could suggest cars all day long but none would suit, you really need to give a few more details to narrow it down. Are you prepared to pay higher insurance etc?

You seem to change your mind overnight, so you sure you want one?!

As I said we could brain storm all day but if you're a young lad with little or no NCB and can't afford insurance of a couple of grand then you might as well give up now mate.

    This.

Also what sort of driving experience do you have? If you're a young lad with not much experience you're going to have a difficult time getting a somewhat decent quote on anything with power.

I was only adding to what you were asking. The more info he provides the easier it'll be to recommend something to him.

No points, i thought id fit in better to the modified car seen if i said i did :o:pac:,(stupid thing to do i know) but im lucky i dont hae points, no "L" plates, no seat belt once i was rushing to the pub. but i dont speed. The odd time i went over the speed limit by 1kph. Levin? i thout they would be costly enough. What is she a 1.6?

Odd thing to think would make you "fit in"! Yep Levins are 1.6 20 valve, Toyotas official figure is 165bhp but in reality most are probably around 155bhp. 930 euro will only get you a shit one. Is the 930 just for the car or is it for car and insurance? It's a small enough budget which wouldnt leave you with too many options.

Superstoner90 with that budget and your current licence you couldn't insure any car don't mind buying one as well. Even on when you get the pink one you would just about insure a Fiat Cinquecento! Sorry to break it to ya, but dream on!

if i was you i would buy a cheap normal car a 1ltr or less drive it for a year or so while saving up for somthing decent, your budget is too low for a decent modded car imo :o

the thing about buying a cheaply modded car is it most likely will be a money pit, poo box

    This

Do like 99% of the people on here have done - buy something crap and common like a fiesta/punto/yaris until you have your license and a bit of NCB, and some cash to buy something decent. It's a pain in the arse, but it's generally what has to be suffered through. That way you can afford the car, and the insurance. Nearly everyone does it. Unless you've plenty of cash to throw around, you don't get to start off in a decent, high powered, nicely modded car.

To do it properly and without spending thousands a year on insurance alone a healthy ncb is a must.

Your limit on modifications at a young age is alloys and maybe suspension.

If is pumped my money into a lotus 7 style kit car is have saved myself a fortune.

is your budget for insurance or car and insurance lad?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,985 ✭✭✭✭dgt

Insurance is a must to consider. When I was 18, insurance was €2283 for the year! As the years went on it went down, its now at €716 on a similar car to what I started off in (not a Fiesta)

You could pay it monthly though as opposed to doing like I did and paying in one shot :)

Looking back when I had the money I should have got a road risk/ motor trade policy

:D Reminds me of myself two years ago. It takes a lot more than a nice car to get laid buddy! Yes I was a dreamer as well. Got a bit more sense when I saw the ****e out there that was available for the same kind of money as something with a sound engine.

    DREAMING? not a tall
You think if you have a modded car, women will flock to you? The only attention I get off girls in my car is either "Look at the bleedin state of that white boy racer mobile" off the girls that I would like or "Aw jazis that's a ride of a car" off the girls I really don't want!

Obviously there's a few exceptions but I really don't think the car will get you wimmin! First the money (lots of it), then the car, then the wimmin and all that!

Chicks dig lads in commercial jeeps and carvans :p

The sad reality is alot of ladies will think you are trying to make up for something in the trouser department if you are in a modded car!

The old "its not modified, its customised" only worked on the stupidest of the stupidest
