    i'm probably worrying over nothing.

but i booked apartments directly with a complex in tenerife for 8th january. i subsequently found them cheaper via booking.com, and booked (non refundable) those for the 7th january using a different email address to avoid confusion.

so i cancelled my booking with the complex on 9th december, and have yet to receive my 55 euro deposit back even though i have cancelled well before the deadline. i am worried that they are mixing up the bookins and i will turn up on the 7th and they tell me that no bookings exist for me. i have been on to visa debit about this and they said it should be refunded by now but i havent requested them yet to charge it back to me as i am worried they'll screw up my other booking.

Are you sure the deposit was refundable?

There could be some confusion about the booking at the hotels end (even if you used a different email address, the name would still be the same for the two bookings). I would contact them directly (phone or email) to make sure they have the apartments booked for you and the right number of apartments to make sure it’s not double booked either. Also it sounds like it's the hotel that owes you the 55euro? It's them you should be talking to about this too, I don't think visa debit can do anything unless you wanted them to block a payment or something.

there is no doubt i am due the 55 back.

    booking A - through hotel from 8th - 15th january CANCELLED
    booking B - through booking.com 7th - 15th january

the face that i have received an confirmation that the booking is cancelled from the apartments themselves should ensure an automatic return of the 55 euros. also, the booking.com one has a completely different reference number and was made through a different email address, and has not been cancelled by me as i'd need to log into the booking to do that.

i may have to ring them, you're right

Ah ok, that's a bit clearer, thanks :)

I'd still contact them though to confirm the 2nd booking and to see what the story is with getting the original deposit back. Sometimes I contact hotels just to make sure they got the booking through a website even if things appear to be straight forward, so I definitely would just as this is a more complicated than most bookings they probably deal with! Just to put your mind at ease that everything is sorted before you arrive :)

the reason is the cancelled booking it a day less is because i am flying to gran canaria and was going to stay the night there but instead i'm going to go to tenerife that evening.

i'm arriving late so i will phone them i reckon. thanks for your advice/
