Mods please feel free to close this if you feel it is a over asked question.

My whole family go away in Spring each year for a family break. Last year we went to the Lake hotel in killarney, the year before the Cavan Crystal, before the The Atlantic coast in Westport.

This year it has become my job to arrange and we plan to go in late March/early April. I have left it late but need to have it booked by the end of this month so people can arrange any days A/L needed.

My Mum is 81 and has dodgy knees so walking far is hard for her. She loves treating herself to a facial and manicure so spa is required. Other that a drive arond and good food would be inportant to her.

My brothers OH hate the city so a hotel with lots of places of interest near would be great to keep her happy, she loves the beach.

    Anthing goes with my brother!!!

My Aunt just want to sit around people watching and drinking tea, cousin and her OH will be out and about all day so are not really fussy.

My husband and I just want to have a walk, chill out with the papers and maybe have a massage.

Price is also a factor, we would either go for a weekend or 3 days midweek B&B with one evening meal. So looking for a good deal.

    Anyone got any suggestions???

The 'G' hotel is fabulous and has many offers all the time.

From your description, I would go for somewhere in the Salthill area. Right beside the beach, close to town but not in the middle of it. Promenade for walking and places like Connemara and Barna are an easy drive away. As I'm from Galway I haven't stayed in any of those hotels but the main one with a spa that comes to mind is Galway Bay Hotel. This would not be walking distance from the city with your Mum.

The G is lovely, only downside is it's not in the most inspiring of locations.

Forget about the G Hotel I would say. The Ardilaun is in a better location. Or the Galway Bay as was allready mentioned.

Another vote for the Ardilaun on Taylor's Hill

Not far from Salthill or town
But it's secluded and quiet on its own grounds so no messy drunks around who annoy the residents during the night

Fantastic spa and leisure centre. And you can head down to the prom for people watching.
But there are gardens on the grounds to chill and relax too, read the papers

And you can head out west for a spin, maybe some seafood in Spiddal or Barna

The G is an amazing hotel but location is not so good, wrong side of town for what you're looking for

Thank you everyone for the replies. I am going to give the Ardilaun and Galway bay a buzz tomorrow and check out the rate and get one booked.

    Thanks again
