Thailand for 61 days

    Hello all,

I'm going to be in Thailand for 61 days - one day over the tourist visa limit damn!
Does anyone have suggestions about what to do. I'm getting a visa on arrival, I didn't apply for one in advance. Will they give me the tourist visa if my flights are 61 days apart?
I was thinking of getting a bus to the Malaysian border but will I have to have that booked in advance?
It could even be easier just to pay one days fine (I think it's about 12 euro) but again, I'm not sure if they will even give me the 60 day visa to begin with.
I also looked at changing my flight dates but that's a pain in the bum as I am getting multiple flights.
    Any help would be appreciated!

You'll be fine (pardon the pun).

They don't check your return ticket, either do a visa run to Cambodia, Burma or Malaysia or if none of those suit pay your over stay when you are leaving.

Ah I love a good (and by good I mean bad) pun!

Thanks for the reply, hopefully it all goes smoothly :)

Eh im afraid you wont be fine. You will only get a 30 day visa at the airport when you arrive and if you do a border run by land you only get an extra 15 days. so your options are get a visa when you arrive and do two border runs which is ridiculous or apply for a 60 day visa in advance and overstay by a day. As far as I know they might give you one day to overstay without a fine but anyway its only 500 baht a day

I thought I could get - as in pay for - a 60 day visa when I arrive in the airport? I wasn't able to apply for one in advance as I needed my passport. I'm going to be there in 2 or 3 weeks but I've been travelling for a few months

I really doubt thats possible, have never seen the option for it myself. Where are you now? Is there a Thai embassy that you can visit before you get to Thailand and you can get your visa there?

I'm in the middle of nowhere really from now until then, I'll be in Amman for a day so I might be able to try there

There is a Thai embassy in Amman if thats any use to you. Irish passport holders get 30 days visa free travel to Thailand when arriving by Air and 15 days when arriving by land or sea. You could fly in there and when your 30 days are up take a cheap flight to Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh, Vientiane or Singapore and re-enter by air to get another 30 days and over stay that 1 final day and pay the fine. However if you don't want to visit any of those places then it will work out cheaper to probably get a 60 day visa.

Any particular reason for all that time spent in Thailand?

But yea, you can do the flight thing.. Or goto the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh / Vientiane and get a new visa there before going back to save on flights.

I would suggest get a cheap flight to Kuala Lumpar. Stay overnight and then you have another 30 days.

Firefly do quite cheap flights if you are down south of the country.
