Civil Ceremony - off-site

    Hi,

I'm looking to have a civil ceremony at the same location as the actual wedding reception. I understand that this is possible but the HSE are completely booked out on the day in question. I'm now looking for alternatives in the Wicklow area.

I'm hoping to keep things pretty simple and ideally as close to the standard ceremony that the HSE regitrars conduct. I know that there are a number of alternative private registrars that are associated with various religious or spiritual backgrounds and would prefer not to have any of these references within the actual ceremony.

Has anyone any recommendations or advice?

we are having tom colton from the spiritualist union of ireland.

Our services is just going to be " do you take this person" -"I do"

so probably about 3/5 minutes in total.

hey, we went through something similar a while back - after giving 9 months notice we hear that the day we wanted was booked out! Basically the country is divided into regions with Meath (where we had ours being in the Louth I think it was area) so there was no one available - so the county can make a difference.

there are a few alternative which we looked into including some ex-communicated priest etc.

The plan that we came up with was to go to the registary office the day before with just the two witnesses and then have a fake one the actual day of the wedding. thankfully we managed to get a registar in the end but that was the best option for us. I hope that helps

Oh and you do get a person pack in as many poems and songs as you can, we thought with three pieces of music and two pomes it would be a good 20-25 minutes, 12 minutes later we were married! guests were thrilled!

He did a service I worked at last week and found him really nice, he is very flexible in what you want to say.

    Hi all

I'm not getting married until 2013 so Im just looking at various options for the Boy and I. We don't want to do religious at all and a quick in and out ceremony would be perfect. My real question is whether the venue needs a license or if the registrar sorts this out? We're looking at an old house in Louth ....any help would be much appreciated as everyone else I know went the Catholic church root. :P

    Thanks in advance

They say that the venue has to be approved for every ceremony, my hotel had previously held ceremonies, so i know there wouldnt be a problem, i got forms emailed from the registry office and printed them, then the hotel filled them out and sent them back, and that was it approved. I booked in sep 2011 for oct 2012 on a friday, as they book up very quickly.
If your venue has previously held ceremonies there, it wont be a problem you will just need to get the forms filled and sent in.
If it hasnt held ceremonies, once all conditions are met in the forms it shouldnt be a problem.
I still have the venue approval application in an email.
