Recently I've switched from Sky to UPC due to the fact that it was far cheaper to have my TV and internet with the same provider.
The only real problem I have with it is that all the HD channels I used to watch, other than Discovery and National Geographic are SD on the UPC box, after watching HD TV since 2008, this is a pretty big change for the worse, I'm just wondering if UPC have any plans to add more HD channels, specifically the ones I want most are, in order of importance, Comedy Central HD, Sky Sports 3 HD and Sky Box Office HD.
I'm going to assume the Sky channels won't be HD for a good while, since Sky will probably want to keep some big advantage over UPC, but what about Comedy Central?

I don't believe Sky will provide any of their own HD content to UPC as it gives them a competitive advantage. I don't think they can be forced to provide it to a rival in this jurisdiction as they were in the UK with Virgin Media. If you remove the Sky content then what is left that isn't in UPC already? ITV HD and it's variants, C4 HD, E4 HD, FX HD, Comedy Central HD, Universal HD, SyFy HD, Dave HD and MTV HD... I can't think of anymore, I see no reason why they can't provide these channels. Apparently more HD content to be announced in January, fingers crossed. I only want Sky Sports HD, that won't be happening I bet.

They won't get ITV HD as they lost their ITV channels. There will be a point when sky will have to provide their HD channels. Sky have stakes in many of the UK variants of US channels. E.G. Comedy Central is part owned by Paramount and BSkyB, FX is owned by Fox International.

While Sky were forced to provide HD channels to Virgin it is worthwhile pointing out that Sky bought up the form VMTV channels.

Anyway AFAIK Sky are only hold off providing HD content to UPC as time goes on they will just have to provide those channels to UPC.

The ITV channels came back a couple of days ago. I hope you're right but I don't see Sky doing it.

Interesting shows you how much I am paying attention to UPC at the moment.

Perhaps they are getting ready for new HD channels. Any chance of UTV+1 becoming available.
