Hi lads and lassies. Very tired after spending a few hours running through the tech forum, so please if anyone can offer any help it would be greatfully appreciated.

I bought a Sony Bravia 37Ex503 last year under the Saorview tag. At the time I was a longstanding Sky customer, so Saorview wasn't an immediate concern - the house had a satellite dish but no seperate aerial.
Last week we called time on Sky, comfortable in the knowledge that Saorview would provide access to what little tv we watched.
Had an aerial installed on Sunday as well as a set-top box, as the tv wasn't listed here :
    http://www.saorview.ie/product/sony/
as being of the approved. Worked away fine till this evening when we realised that we didn't need the set-top box as this thread:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056096032
confirmed that we do have an approved tv. I put the coax cable in and the tv tuned in the saorview channels, happy days.
My problem is that I thought the Sky FTA channels (BBC ITV Fikn 4 etc) could also be tuned in - is that possible? If not then it is a case of persisting between the digital and hdmi options on the tv and using the Sky remote for those ones?
The second problem is that we were advised previously that we would be able to record and pause live tv with saorview - there is no option for this whatsoever in the guide - is it a Sony, Saorview or another issue?

    Thanks in advance folks.

Remove your skycard from the box
Power down the unit ( take the power Lead out of he back of the box )
Re-power up the unit after 20 secs
    Leave the card out.
You will now have your FTA channels ( well the bulk of them anyway )

To record / pause / rewind the saorview transmission, you need a saorview box with either an integraged HDD ( the better option ) or a USB facility for recordrding onto external HDD/memory stick. Perhaps the box you have had installed has the facility.

Plenty of info in the satellite & terrestrial forums here.

That's the case alright: if it really bugs you, you can buy a combi box that has terrestrial & satellite tuners & allows all channels to be placed on a single menu, but you'd be better off waiting for a Saorview certified one with proper recording & timeshifting abilities (if one with all the 'bells & whistles' ever becomes available).
According to this post, certified combi boxes in some form are certainly on the horizon.

The only way you'll get the UK channels on the tv's own menu is if you are in range of a UK terrestrial transmitter, say near the border or in some east coast areas.
