Got my new A&H Zed-r16 recently.
I have done a couple of sessions on it now and am really happy with it.
I have all my external pres (ISA 828 & 220, UA LA-610 and API A2D) going line in and have 16 channels of eq on the board for tracking.
Come mix I am going out to 16 stems and using eq and my drawer compressors for the mix.
The difference of the width and punch compared to mixing in the box is staggering.
I am using the desk in ADAT mode feeding my RME digiface PCIe card in the mac. This desk is insanely good for the price.
You can use it as an "in line" console sending to the adat outs either pre or post eq and return via adat either pre or post eq too.
I can't post any mixes yet but will when I can.

Are those whitish smudges on the vinyl, cocaine residue
    or is it fag ash?

The pres are going line in to the desk.

Photo was taken at 4AM after an 8 hour stint of soldering cables and wiring so I had a well deserved ciggy.
When I went to unwire before getting started there were loads of orphan cables underneath (neither end connected) so I pulled everything out and started from scratch. I had to wait until after a session which finished at 7PM and didn't expect it take so long.
I had another session starting at 10AM. I will never start a job like this again with a session in the following day.

I have a friend who has a theory, that the cables wiggle off by themselves when you're not looking.

He smokes a lot dope.....so I just kind of nod my head at his theories, most of the time.

It might bother some people that the line in on that desk is really just the desk's mic pre with a pad in front.

Hi, I'm researching this desk for my own home studio and came across this forum.

Is this true? I didn't realise? This would completely put me off the desk if my external pres had to go through another pre stage. Can either of you confirm this?

Line inputs have amplifiers too. In days of yore some people would plug their keyboards etc into the SSL mic amp instead of the line input 'cause they sounded better.

With a outboard microphone pre-amp the idea is to bypass the console completely... or go in through a FX return

    Nice desk BTW.
