I put a sony radio into my 03 1.2 polo a while back. changing car and taking out the sony stereo now.

Not sure if the old radio is going to ask for a code but I heard somewhere that it will. Was wondering if anyone code help me get it? not sure what I need to find out what it is.

Not sure if i need one but i don't want to take the stereo out and not have a radio for a while until i get the code.

Ring the main VW dealer with the serial number of the radio and they'll give you the code although knowing VW as I do now they'll probably try and charge you for that too,.

its not only vw that charge. nissan wanted 35 euro for the code to my mothers 06 micra, plus had too call into the garage with the log book and photo id. needless to say this never happened. a quick google found a site that generated the code and sent it by email for 5 quid:D

If you can find the VW dealer that sold the car from new they won't charge you. Otherwise you're gonna need to cough up.

Well conveniently I only picked it up yesterday from a vw dealer after spending €1500 on getting the cylinder head redone so he's getting a phone call at ten past nine and not getting another cent!
