Hard drive not connecting

    I have an external HDD (seagate) and its powering on and all fine but not connecting to my pc. no beep or any thing..

    does this mean its just dead?

    is the drive itself still spinning? if you can't hear it, you should be able to feel it going off kilter if you hold it in your hand and gently tip it slightly to one side.

    Yes it's spinning and making that whiring noise hdds make. But when connected to the Pc nothing.

    What I did was remove it from the case as was going to install windows on a Pc that I recently bought. I was going to use the hdd as just my main drive but when I plugged it into the mo bo it made noise etc but the boos or windows installation menu could t see it.

    So I put it back together and plugged it into my laptop and still nothing.

    ok well the HDD was working fine for a few days but last night I
    unplugged it and reconnected it (I was moving some stuff around)
    and when i turn on the PC same problem.... the hard drive
    powers on and spins and makes noise the whole lot but its
    not recognised, tried it in a different pc and still nothing.


    What's happening? any help?
