Need help with a camera question

One of my relatives got my mum in secret santa this year and being the tech guy of the family decided to ask me to figure out what she had actually put on her list, of course I don't have a clue about anything camera related. Basically she said that it was a Sony (something that looks like an upsidedown glass) off camera…

One of my relatives got my mum in secret santa this year and being the tech guy of the family decided to ask me to figure out what she had actually put on her list, of course I don't have a clue about anything camera related.

Basically she said that it was a Sony (something that looks like an upsidedown glass) off camera cable.

I'm assuming what she meant is a Sony alpha off camera cable, I'm pretty sure thats the kind of camera my mum has not sure of the exact model. I had a quick look online and figured out what the cable is.

My question is are these cables specific to different cameras or will one do for the entire alpha family or whatever family of camera she has, the other is there any chance in hell I could get one in Galway as I know its way too late to order one online?
