Bit of an unusual request here. I have a bicycle I'm restoring and I'm finding it hard to find a match for the original color. Its called zodiac blue, though not that it matters much.

Any car paints that match the original colour? It doesn't have exactly right, but if its close, I'll be happy :)

I'm going to presume a car paint will be easier to source the a bicycle that was made 26 years ago and the manufacture is now defunct :D

Most good suppliers will be able to match it up if you bring in a chip of it. I would recommend Vinny Byrne's but you're way out wesht! ;)

If you're ever in Cork, you're welcome to go through my box of paint cards. I've about 170000 in there to pick from. Lots of manufacturers, you'd surely find the right shade.

    Cheers lads.

The bike was resprayed black, so the original colour was masked, hence the scan of the catelouge.

However I pulled out the front forks and lo an behold some original paint...

Off to the motor factors for the paint now. I'm going to presume I'd need two cans for it. How much on average is a matched can of paint these days?

I know i got a tin for about 10 euros a few years ago.

    EDIT:

From having a search on google, it looks like I need between 70-120ml to paint a frame. How much am I looking for that?

Nice bike! 70s Koga-Miyata? I remember them from when I was a little boy, it was about the most expensive bike you could buy back then :)

    Thanks :D

    '83 Koga Miyata 310.

It was their mid range model, however it cycles like new. Needs a lick of paint though.
