Work going on at Clonsilla Station

The work is getting attention on other forums, and I've a general idea of what's going on, but I can't find any official information on what IE are doing, or what their plans are.

It looks like a shuttle train will run between Clonsilla and the Park & Ride on the M3.

Does anyone have any links to official information?

There are lifts going in at the far end of the platform where the new one is going in. A new crossover has gone in on the dunboyne line.

As far as I understand it the plan is to use the bay platform for an off-peak shuttle.

Pay and Display parking will now take effect on the redeveloped area/road outside Clonsilla Train Station from Monday morning (Jan 16th). Parking fees apply from 8am to 6pm daily. Notices advising same erected today.

Many stations are part of a programme of minor improvements. Clonsilla appears to be getting the largest programme of works.

The development will consist of the construction of a new footbridge with a full accessibility compliant stairs, lifts, fencing and associated site works.

They have to pay for station improvements somehow:)

Thank God, that existing footbridge (while quaint and attractive to look at, taken from Listowel station I recall from an earlier thread) was lethal to cross in the dark as lighting around the steps was non existent and if any bit icy, was a deathtrap.

So all the work going on to the south of the tracks relates to the new development then? I notice they have completed an extension of the platform to the west of the existing one. What will be the exact purpose of this extension? The current platform is already long enough for IR's longest trains, surely?

It's a bay platform so that at certain times the M3 service can operate as a shuttle between M3 Parkway and Clonsilla and also eliminate the current shunting manoeuvre that has to take place when the off-peak shuttle operates.

I really hope they build a bridge just like the one in lexlip so that the crs/buses wont have to wait.

I've waited for 20min just for the train to move around 10.30 - 11 at the train station its about time they did something about it.

Will that have a further effect of cars parking in the estates instead? I think it might and i cant see the local residents being happy about it.

It's Fingal CoCo, paid for the redevelopment of the Hansfield Road and will operate the parking. The works on the station itself are a separate project and funded through IE.

Wow, Fingal Co Co getting into low-fares parking. Who would have thought. Although it's a bit of a two fingers to IE.

Having said that Cork City Council got a bus licence to operate a park and ride, which is also a two fingers, but to BE.

Local authorities taking on the might of CIE. What next... the civil service taking on the public service?!

Why would it be 2 fingers to IE? The development on that road has nothing to do with IE and Fingal co council are hardly doing it to put it up to IE so dont get too excited Mini.

Interesting that only half the new parking spaces were occupied by 9am this morning now that the €2 a day charge takes effect.

Anyone aware of a target date for the actual Clonsilla train station works to be completed?
