Hi folks. I recently received the gift of a Sharp Tide Indicator watch. All that needs to be done is have the battery replaced and re sealed. I'm being quoted around 60 to 80 euro by local jewellers. Is this generally accurate? Any tips on a good shop on the North East / East coast that could do this without such expense?

you can bring it to any jeweller and have it replaced for about 10 quid.
    Big mistake.

I did this once with a jeweller in blackrock. She didnt bother to put the seal back in my watch and 2 weeks later it was wrecked. She of course denied it.

With a decent watch that is waterproof, you want it serviced only by a professional who knows what they are doing. You want to be sure its pressure tested after any work also to ensure its still waterproof to the level indicated.

Not something i would cheap out on.

I use http://watchrepairs.ie/ for any work on watches. Emily is an absolute professional and is out to ensure the best quality of work. Prices are also fairly reasonable considering the quality of the work.

Cheap out if you dont really care for the watch, or if it is a cheapo watch you dont mind replacing once water gets in. otherwise get it done properly.

besides, most watch batteries last 4-6 years, which is about 20 quid per year if you break down the cost of a pro doing the work.

Thank you for your informative response. I've emailed watch repairs for a quote. Couldn't locate their site before I posted this query.
