I am looking at a second hand 1m channel master dish that was used for tooway broadband.

would i be able to use the lnb for tv reception or is it only for broadband.

Larger dishes often need a specific horn and thus can be less than ideal with a regular LNBF.

I have a 1m Channel master and its F/d is unsuitable for regular dish LNBFs.

If it was really Tooway (it may not have been) the LNB part is unsuitable for normal Satellite TV (all Ku Band). It may even be unsuitable for Saorsat (ka band) even it was Tooway, as it would have likely been for the Hotbird 6 service at 13E. The newer Tooway service from Ka-Sat never would use a 1m dish and uses a different LNB.

Satellite Internet usually has an ODU (Outdoor unit) that combines the BUC (Block Up Converter for Transmit) and LNB (Low Noise Block for Receive). Usually they only do one fixed polarity (mechanically selected) and often only one part of the Ku or Ka Band, so the LNB part may only give one half or one quarter of the channels.

The smaller Channel Masters will work better with regular LNBFs. The larger ones (95cm and up) will be disappointing without the proper horn and flange type LNB.

So without a suitable horn + LNB the 1m Channel Master is useless.

The dish is costing me 50 euro, so im gonna grap it at that price.
I have a proper channel master feedhorn with inverto lnb on my motorized1m gibertini, but im gonna take it down when i install a 1.2cm(thats the plan anyway) so ill use it on that seen as its a 23mm fitting lnb, thats all that will fit the tooway dish.
