One of my mates tells me he has heard that the Mullins yard is goin for a big touch in the race with the Wiley horse on his own.who hasn't raced for them yet but he's been put up for this race to land a big gamble .i wasn't sure to listen to it or not but in the last day the horse has gone from 16/1 in to 9/1 fav.

On his Own could be well handicapped as he is a young lightly raced horse. Ive looked over his chases runs so far and he does have a bit of an issue with jumping to the right at his fences. Leopardstown being a left handed track not sure this is going to suit. However im sure WP can sort out this problem and with the connections involved will most likely go off a 5/1 shot on the day.

Rivage D'or could be off a nice weight if the hustle & bustle of a big handicap chase doesn't catch out a novice.

Interestingly Dessie Hughes runs also runs Western Charmer who I thought they'd leave off over fences til the national weights were out

So did I colonel, might be kept out the back.

I think Treacle is massively overpriced for this at 33/1

I backed On His Own myself.

As for the race itself, as much as I admire JP and acknowledge his contribution to racing, there is something wrong when one owner has 9 runners in a field of 28.

I think it was a clever, but somewhat unsporting, method of giving Groody Hill the best chance in the race. It almost worked.
